Baby steps

Today LiL’ Bear is one month old.

Long before LiL’ Bear was born, much much longer…we are talking 10+ yrs ago, his mom has already started buying baby shoes for him. When we were at the mall and saw some nice Nike baby kicks, she would buy them in different styles, different sizes. Especially this white patent dunk, since I have a pair too – we just had to buy LiL’ Bear a pair as well.

Week 38 of LiL’ Bear in the making

Week 38 – The wait is over! At the end of week 37, we made a decision, i.e. a scheduled C-section. LiL’ bear is growing too fast, too big at week 38 he is already over 8 lbs. We decided to introduce him to this world some time this week. Early morning on Monday Dec 28th, we received a call from the doc’s office that the hospital has confirmed the surgery apppintment and we were scheduled in for the same day at 630pm. Without having much preparation mentally, we packed everything into the car, grabbed some sandwiches, and off we went to the hospital with the 2 moms. They checked her into the prep room, got her all needled up and ready for the big moment to come.

(I had to put on the surgical one piece suit, mask, and shoe covers.)

Week 37 of LiL’ Bear in the making

Week 37 – The FaceOff! This week we’ve made an easy decision, but just tough to convince myself to let go. When the two cabriolets have no room for each other, one has to go. Its pretty obvious that the stroller wins in this case, so we have to say bye bye to the Porsche for now. I am taking her to the dealer for a consignment this weekend, hope she finds a new owner who loves her like we did.

LiL’ bear has finally reached full term. He is ready to come out anytime now. I am on standby, camera is ready, camcorder is ready, cars ready, phones ready, bags ready, his onesies ready, his diapers ready, his hats ready, his gloves ready, his socks ready, his crib is ready, everything is ready ready. Its all up to him when he wish to come out.

Week 36 of LiL’ Bear in the making

Week 36 – A week shy from full term, all we can do is wait. Wife’s tummy is so big, even Snoopy can sit comfortably on top of the “belly wagon”. This week, baby should pack on more lbs at a rate of about 1oz per day to now roughly about 6 lbs. Little bear is definitely in the head down ready-set-go position, as he is constantly pressing up against wifey’s bladder making her taking frequent bathroom trips at night.

Since little bear is now so big, little of his movement becomes more obvious on the outside of the belly. We could see him stretches, kicks, moves, and I even tried placing my face up against the belly and start talking. He definitely gives me reactions hitting where ever I placed my face on…haha so funny… its so cool how he reacts to the outside world which he is totally unfamiliar with. I feel so happy, and I feel like I am already playing with my son ^_^

Week 35 of LiL’ Bear in the making

At week 35, she lost a fight. An exhausting trip to Las Vegas plus the cold weather made it hard for her to fight off the cold. She had a sore throat followed by a light fever, I was afraid that being the H1N1. We went to the doctor on Monday, luckily her fever has gone away as well as her sore throat. Doc said she is fine, and just need to drink more fluid and rest more when she can. The Vegas trip was fun and all but it was pretty exhausting. We had friends who came to visit from Japan, arrived Thurs and we went straight to Vegas after picking them up at the airport. Luckily we have VIP passes for everything, which eliminated all the wait-in-line (must be like 1.5 hr for hotel check in and 3 hrs for buffet, its ridiculous) during the busy Thanksgiving holidays. We walked around the strip in the afternoon, and had a good buffet dinner, then watched the Le Reve show @ Wynn, and then went on the Mid Night Madness shopping at the outlet right after. We did even more shopping in the next 2 days, and yea It was action packed for the whole weekend.

Week 34 of LiL’ Bear in the making

Week 34 – We are ready, for the next journey. Time flies and its about to take off, our next destination – the beginning of a whole new journey. According to the experts, babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. We have been worried that Little Bear could not wait ’til week 40 and wanted to come out earlier. For some reason I have this feeling that he will come out as soon as week 38, anyway I am ready. Little bear should roughly weights in 4.7 lbs now and just about 18″ long. From here on, there shouldn’t be much changes on lil bear except packing on those round chubby fat and meat to the bones.

Week 33 of LiL’ Bear in the making

Week 33 – One in a million! Its phenomenal when you are able to place your hand on this big belly knowing someone special is right inside kicking it and punching through trying to make his very first contact with you – Its simply amazing!! Knowing that he comes one in a million, and is now so real, so close, so fascinating, always make you realize how wonderful a new life really is.

Time is slowly approaching, with only 7 more weeks or less to go. Last couple weeks had gone by incredibly fast. Saturday we had our monthly doctor visit, our next visit will be shortened to 2 weeks apart. Little bear now measures about 4.5 lbs and 12 inches in length – right on track. While she cuts back on all sweets and sugar, it definitely helps maintained her weight. She has stopped gaining weight while little bear is still growing inside her. Good job! Doctor said it is very like that we will see an 8 lbs baby haha. Also, doc says little bear already has lots of hair, just like wifey when she was born haha cute.

Week 32 of LiL’ Bear in the making

Week 32 – Sleepless nights continues. LiL’ bear’s position has changed since last doc visit, his head is now down. Let’s just hope he stays down and doesn’t turn back up. The active little bear kicking and jabbing at night doesn’t really help much with the sleeping. Wifey feels extremely tired lately, all that sudden drop of energy has slowed things down for her daily activities. After the baby shower, she was just exhausted and she is still experiencing mild contractions (Braxton Hicks) every now and then. She just can’t wait ’til she goes on her maternity leave, so she can stay home and rest more. This Saturday is our last ‘once a month’ visit. From now on, we will have to visit the doctor’s office every 2 weeks and until the final month up to once a week.

Baby Shower ~ Nov 7th, 2009

We hosted our baby shower @ Tea Rose in Pasadena. We only invited some really close friends and coworkers, almost all of them made it.  The venue has a perfect garden in the back where we can decorate a little bit, best of all it is reserved just for us. The tea set was a great 3 tier with ayce  sandwiches, scones, muffins, and fruits. Again, the food was not important – but the people who came were.
