To me, its kind of sad to see how Chubby Feet will not be having a traditional Chinese Moon/Mid-Autumn festival like we used to have when we were kids…. i.e., the candle lanterns and mooncakes with our parents at the park. I have been wanting to take photos of kids playing with lanterns on this special day since 3 years ago, but have found nothing. This year we’ve asked around, all the moms we know of but none of them have seen or heard of any places where there are these lanterns gatherings on this day – how sad. I remember when I was a kid, I used to look forward to this day because I get to create my own lantern with wood sticks and some plastic film paper. Add a little candle and handle, we were off to the park eating mooncakes and observing the moon. As I grew older, the candle lanterns began to phase out, batteries operated lanterns began their debute and sure enough it was a big hit. And of course during the recent decade, LED lanterns dominate the night of the fest. However, I see nothing like that here. Anyone know of any places here in the Southern California, drop us a note so we can check it out next year.
