After a whole day of fun at the zoo, we came to the famous Phil’s BBQ to celebrate early Mother’s Day. Upon arriving the parking lot, the line wasn’t that bad (it was 4:30pm). An hour later, the line wrapped around the corner, no wonder the 2000+ reviews on Yelp. We are both not too fond of BBQ, needless to say for Chubby but thought we should give it a try to see what it is all about. Since Chubby is still taking his nap in the car, and daddy was tired from the walking/driving. Mommie is the best! She stood in line for about an hour.
After mommie placed the order, daddy and Chubby came inside the restaurant. Oh boy it was packed! The fully charged Chubzilla is full of energy again.
I don’t know why but this scene reminds me of those Poker nights =)
And then the pager vibrates HAHAHAHAHAH
I guess Chubby doesn’t like the vibration LOL
The BBQ beef ribs, was…alrite. Will I come back and stand in line for this? Probably not.
Chubby’s BBQ chicken nuggets.
Mommie’s BBQ baby back ribs. Now this one is tasty and very tender, but is it super good? I don’t know.
It’s so funny Chubby dancing to the music playing throughout the restaurant.
After our early dinner, next stop – mommie’s heaven. The desserts ! Just about how much mommie loves cakes? Look at how many pictures she took inside haha.
After a qazillion pictures taken and a box of 3 slices of yummy cakes, we headed to the hotel at the Coronado Bay.
A very nice reivew, we can already see the relaxation coming. Let’s just hope Chubby won’t give us a hard time =)
Away from the city, we could use some R&R.
Arriving at the front of the Loews Resort, a very quiet and peaceful place.
Inside the room comes the not very quiet little monster >_< but we could tell, he was so happy and excited.
Another nice view outside the balcony of our room. Would be nice to sit out here with a cocktail watching the sun set.
But of course we don’t want to leave Chubby alone. So we turned on the TV and switched to his fav channel.
The playful Chubby LOL
After a full day of activities, its so nice to jump inside the jacuzzi. Mommie decided not to join, so she was on Tango with grandma while watching over Chubby on the pool chair.
Just as I leaned back and lifted my head, the big dipper is right in front of us. What breathtaking view, I pointed and showed Chubby but I guess he didnt know what I was doing =T
After enjoying my tub, we hang out a big by the pool. It was such a nice weather and it was so relaxing laying down on the pool lounge chair. We could almost fall asleep there, but we know the yummy cakes are calling us from the room.
The first bite was like heaven! So moist, so yummy, so Extraordinary.
Seriously, your toe is not that tasty @_@”
Ok Chubby, its time for bed.
And while Chubby is asleep, we put him in his stroller and strolled him down with us to the lounge. The usual Chubby can sleep through just about any noise, even live music. Yay!
Next morning. 6am! Where did that noise come from? Who else would run around the room going “ahh, ahhh, ahhh?” He is so excited, so happy. He woke up and realized hes not at home.
Explorer mode > ON
Ok its pool time.
All ready to go.
Yeah let’s get that sun tan haha
Daddy was so tired, he felt asleep on the lounge chair.
Mommie found a map.
Breakfast buffet at the Market Cafe right by the lobby.
Chubby woke up from his morning nap, and its breakfast time. But guess you weren’t hungry because you played with your food more than you ate them.
Chubby didn’t eat most of his plates, but emptied out this bowl of cantaloupes.
Suddenly the music conductor mode turned on.
After breakfast (or became our lunch), we went to the business district of the bay to check things out. This place definitely reminds us of Hawaii.
Its perfect weather for some dippin’ dots!
“Mommie, I want more !”
Coming back crossing the bridge, we went to the Pearl Hotel for a place to relax. This place is such a hidden gem, the whole place is so hip.
A big open area with a pool in the middle right outside. People weren’t just hanging out chilling, its so cool.
After a restful hour and a half at the Pearl, we decided to head over to dinner. Portugalia, a Portuguese cuisine only a few miles away. We got there, door was locked. We called, they said they are closing down…..bummer.
So we Yelped and found a Spanish restaurant Costa Brava.
It was 5pm, but this place packed up quick….which is a good sign.
Daddy loves Portuguese sausage. Sautéed Chorizo sausage.
Deep fried bacalhau croquettes.
Escargot in a parsley Alioli sauce.
Chubby loves these deep fried anchovies.
Ox Tail cooked in Rioja red wine sauce.
And here Chubby demonstrate how to make bread cocktail.
Of course, there was nothing coming out of that straw. Here try some water Chubby LOL.
After dinner, we headed home. For the most time, Chubby says “Daddy, I am not sleepy”……
Oh yeah I can tell >_< (riding his Harley)
